The Vermont Youth Lobby is working with members of the Sunrise Movement and the Vermont Climate Caucus (a group of Vermont lawmakers who are committed to climate action) to organize a Youth Climate Congress. The goal of this event is to bring together 150-200 youth representatives (with an emphasis on under-represented and frontline communities), 20-30 Vermont lawmakers, community climate activists, and the media together to draft, refine and endorse a unified message — in the form of a resolution — to Vermont lawmakers that they must do more to address the climate crisis. Earlier this year, Greta Thunberg and 46 other youth activists issued a call to everyone around the globe to join them in a massive climate strike on September 20th. The Climate Strike will kick-off a week of mass, actions between Sept 20-27. In most countries, the youth strikers have chosen Sept. 20th as the day of their Climate Strike, while in a few other countries they have chosen Sept 27th. The 3rd Annual Race Against Racism will take place on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at Montpelier High School! The Race Against Racism is a state-wide annual anti-racist event, organized by youth from several Vermont high schools. All are welcome to a public rally, comprised of a short list of notable speakers, and lots of live music and performances beginning at 10:45. VTeen 4-H Trail Stewards – Student Opportunity
The UVM Extension 4-H Teen & Leadership Program has partnered with the Vermont Forests, Parks & Recreation to create a pilot program called VTeen 4-H Trail Stewards. Planning Coalition Meeting Moved to March 24th
The Planning Coalition Meeting originally scheduled for this Sunday, March 1oth has been pushed back to Sunday, March 24th at the Montpelier High School Library from 4-7pm. The steering committee is still planning on meeting March 10th, but the exact time and location are still being determined.
