The UVM Extension 4-H Teen & Leadership Program has partnered with the Vermont Forests, Parks & Recreation to create a pilot program called VTeen 4-H Trail Stewards. The Planning Coalition Meeting originally scheduled for this Sunday, March 1oth has been pushed back to Sunday, March 24th at the Montpelier High School Library from 4-7pm. The steering committee is still planning on meeting March 10th, but the exact time and location are still being determined.

Students from the Vermont Youth Lobby will be holding a press conference at 1:30pm on Wednesday, January 9th in Room 10 of the Vermont Statehouse. The purpose of this press conference is to let our lawmakers know that we expect serious, bold, and immediate action to address climate change this legislative session. It is our future that is in jeopardy, and it is partly our job to guide our leaders in the right direction when it comes to climate change policy. Please join us for a daylong, youth-led event supported by the Peace & Justice Center to gather youth from around Vermont for a day of bonding, education, and more! Join us if you are part of any social justice activist work or if you want to learn more about how to get involved. Those in middle school, high school, and beyond are welcome, although the programming will be geared towards the high school age group. This event is FREE or by donation at the door. The 2nd annual Race Against Racism is a youth-led community event held at Montpelier High School on September 23rd, 2018, beginning at 11:30. The event starts with a 5K run/walk through the city of Montpelier. Throughout the event, there will be local vendors vending food, including pizza from Woodbelly Pizza. After the race is completed, the performance portion of the event will begin, featuring activists, artists, musicians, and performances. Performers include Soundcheck and A2VT. If you would like to attend the rally instead of running and show your support for equality in VT, you can plan on arriving at 12: 00; the speakers will begin shortly thereafter. BECOME A CLIMATE LEADER Register for the Vermont Youth Climate Summit: The aim of the Vermont Youth Climate Summit is to educate high school students on the impacts of climate change through peer-to-peer learning. Encouraging students to take action on an issue that is highly relevant to their generation is a key mission of the Summit. Challenging both high school and college students to think deeply about the issue allows for a greater impact and understanding of the common role that youth play in the climate movement.
