Rally for the Planet 2023!

We are Rallying for the Planet, with a focus on CLIMATE JUSTICE and the future of young Vermonters.

 

Event Details:  April 14th, 9am-1:30pm on the Statehouse Lawn*, Montpelier

*Meeting at Montpelier High School to make signs and march to the Statehouse

Event Schedule:

8:30am – 10:00am – Drop-Off and Staging

Buses drop students off at Montpelier High School.  There will be a number of activities for students to engage in, such as making signs for the march, face painting, and participating in various art projects.

 

10:00am – 10:15am – Youth March

Vermont youth and their allies march in solidarity to the Statehouse lawn.

 

10:15am – 10:45am –  Music

Music supported by The Flynn

 

10:45am – 11:15am – Speak Out! 

Youth speakers share their thoughts on climate change and activism.

 

11:15am-12:05pm – Facilitated Discussions

  • Topics are TBD.

 

12:05pm- 1:15pm – Take Action! 

  • Go to the Youth Lobby or VPIRG table to learn more about solutions to climate change and proposed legislation. Work with Vermont Conservation Voters to find and write your legislator, or find your representative in person! 
  • Go to the Youth Lobby table to get your Bingo card, then go talk with various organizations working to promote environmental justice in our state.
  • Create something. Various organizations will have activities to take part in, from banner painting, button making, silk screening, and seed planting.
  • Eat the lunch you brought (We ask everybody to bring their own lunch and clean up after themselves). 

 

1:15pm- 1:30pm – Speak Out!
